That was from a letter to Rolling Stone magazine after John Lennon was shot and killed in front of the Dakota, in New York City...December 8, 1980. That was the complete letter. It will stick in my mind as long as i live, and i still cry when i think of it.
30 years...a whole life time. If you were born in 1980, you would be 30 years old...with 30 years of life experiences. you would possibly be marreid, with kids of your own, or you could be...anything, in thirty years time. John Lennon could have done...whatever he wanted to do, in thirty years time.
But, it was never to be, because of Mark David Chapman, who, instead of seeking help for his delusions, ended John's hopes, dreams...
Now, all that is left is to mark this tragic anniversary each year, and remember John Lennon, and what he meant to so many people. Lennon would be the first to tell us that we need to move on, that we are still clinging to an image...an image he tried to leave behind, to live beyond.
So now we say prayer, cry, and remember...30 Years...Damn...Good Bye John...
